Picture Show Men

This publication commissioned by the State Library of Queensland documents the Sourry/Sourris family's significant contribution to Queensland's cinema industry across three generations. Combining personal stories, archival material and cultural history, the publication balances multiple narratives while honouring the family's Greek heritage and cinematic legacy.

The design draws on cinematic storytelling through typography, pacing and materiality. Three distinct typographic voices structure the narrative, while typefaces from Greek type foundries subtly reference the family's origins. A palette of deep blue, golden wattle yellow and sepia connects place, heritage 
and archival history.

Throughout the publication, cinematic motifs, die-cuts, tip-ins and fold-out spreads create moments of discovery, transforming the book into both a historical record and an intimate family archive.
